Though more than a tad didactic and perhaps a little sanitised, this groundbreaking BBC drama – depicting the fears and problems of both a group of recent West Indian immigrants to London and the locals that they interact with, detailing problems of employment, racism, exploitation, and clashing cultures – is, never the less, a fascinating document of the time and place.
