On the morning that he is due to move to a retirement home, a widowed dreamer sets off for South America in a balloon powered floating house, determined to keep an almost forgotten promise that he made with his dead wife; but a talkative, badge hungry wilderness scout, a giant flightless bird, a pack of talking dogs, and his elderly but sprightly childhood hero all contribute to hampering his progress, in this oft sublime, generally entertaining, and surprisingly moving Pixar animation.
