Richard Curtis’s directorial debut intertwines eight loosely linked tales of love and longing, which for the most part are decidedly forgettable, with the most interesting ones amongst them being those that aren’t quite so neatly and happily wrapped-up as the majority; and, despite a few entertaining moments, the sickly sweet final 30 minutes are all but unwatchable.
