Yella, a small town girl from eastern Germany, heads to Hanover to begin an exciting new job, leaving her abusive, stalking, bankrupt husband behind; but, after a car crash en route to the station, all she finds is a bleak, depopulated world of insolvency and uncertainty, in Petzold’s cool, corporate thriller-cum-supernatural (sort of) horror film.
