On an overnight cross-channel ferry ride, a thirtyish English woman and a 16-year-old French boy, both travelling alone, strike up a conversation in the ship’s cafeteria, which leads – as most of her films eventually do – to the bedroom, where the unlikely couple talk at length about (and occasionally have) sex, in Breillat’s talky and playful examination of sexual politics.
