Whilst her parents discuss her future with an Argentinian surgeon, Alex, an intersex fifteen-year-old from rural Uruguay, raised as a girl, who has recently stopped taking her hormone replacement drugs, begins to tentatively explore her sexuality, whilst also struggling to take charge of her own life, in Puenzo’s affectingly acted and strikingly shot if never entirely convincingly scripted first feature.
