Volach’s affecting, sensual, and very promising debut contrasts the innate curiosity and pragmatism of a nine-year-old boy with the irrational, unnatural religious piety of his father, a contrast that eventually leads to tragedy, in this low budget film, set amongst the ultra-orthodox Haredi community of Jerusalem.
