In Holden’s painfully unconvincing and rather risible coming-of-age movie, an angry young man from a lower middle class family, who dreams of being accepted by a gang of Birkenheadian football hooligans, who spend their Saturday afternoons knocking seven shades of shite out of complete strangers, makes friends with one of their number, a troubled young man who dreams of escaping his miserable existence.
