This competent and diverting if rather uninspired ‘50s-set BBC film depicts John Wolfenden’s chairmanship of a government commissioned committee to investigate the potential ramifications of any possible law changes relating to homosexuality and prostitution (which eventually led to the decrimalisation of the former), complicated somewhat by his own son’s recent coming-out.
