Though its comic asides are often hilarious – occasionally trouser-soilingly so – the central, four-pronged coming-of-age storyline, in which a group of early twenty-something friends come to realise the error of their ways on the not so mean streets of 1970s Reading, is merely and decidedly hackneyed and filled with speachy, unconvincing dialogue.
