In Schmid’s restrained and appropriately downbeat (sort of) legal thriller, a war crimes trial at The Hague against a Serbian commander threatens to fall apart when it becomes apparent that its key witness (who subsequently kills himself) has been lying; but once the real witness comes forward, the case begins to open-up, much to the annoyance of the court and accused alike, who both want it wrapped-up as quickly as possible.
